- Content must be complete, up to date and accurate (Art. 13(6)). Show the update date and keep a change log.
- Languages: English plus the language of every country where distributors sell. Pick the language from the browser and let the visitor switch (Art. 74(1), Art. 38(1)(a)).
- Accessible: real text instead of images of text, text alternatives for symbols, contrast at least 4.5:1 (draft labelling act, Art. 6(3), refers to Directive (EU) 2019/882).
- Batch number and date of manufacture stay on the battery. The page explains where to find them.
- Who owns what: battery data and the declaration come from the battery manufacturer (the pack supplier) and are published by Dark Project under a written agreement (request item B3a). Device, replacement and spare-part content: Dark Project. Collection information per country: the distributor or its take-back scheme.
- Update the page when: a new device model uses this pack; a country or distributor is added; the declaration changes; the EU labelling implementing act is published; a take-back scheme changes.

Recycling
Required on this pageBasis: Art. 13(6) giving access to Art. 74(1)(b) and (c). Source: general text by Dark Project; country text and collection link from the distributor or its take-back scheme (3.5). Owner: distributor, checked by the PM.
Do not throw batteries or electronic devices away with household waste. Used batteries are collected separately so they can be recycled safely.
- You can return used batteries free of charge, without buying anything.
- Take the battery out of the device first if you can do it safely (see Replace the battery). Otherwise hand in the whole device.
- The device itself is electronic waste. Take it to a collection point for electrical and electronic equipment.
In Germany, return used batteries free of charge wherever batteries are sold and at municipal recycling centres (Wertstoffhof).
Find a collection point Link: takeback-scheme.example/de⚑What happens to your battery
Collected batteries are sorted by chemistry and sent to licensed recyclers. They recover metals such as cobalt, lithium and copper for new products. A battery that still works can serve as a spare for the same device model.
Safety with used batteries
Required on this pageBasis: Art. 74(1)(d). Source: standard Dark Project text for lithium-ion, checked against the supplier's safety data sheet (A15). Owner: PM.
- Before you return a used battery, cover the contacts or connector with tape, or put the battery in its own plastic bag.
- Never crush, puncture, open or short-circuit a battery. Keep it away from heat and fire.
- If a battery is swollen, damaged, hot or smells unusual, stop using and charging it. Put it on a non-flammable surface away from anything that can burn, and take it to a collection point separately. Tell the staff it is damaged.
- If liquid from the battery gets on your skin or in your eyes, rinse with plenty of water and get medical advice.
- Keep batteries away from children.
In an emergency anywhere in the EU, call 112.
Lithium batteries thrown into household waste are a frequent cause of fires in bins, collection trucks and sorting plants.
Make the battery last longer
Required on this pageBasis: Art. 74(1)(a). Source: standard Dark Project text, charging limits from the supplier (A3, C10). Owner: PM.
- Charge with the supplied USB cable from a computer port or a 5 V USB charger.
- Avoid running the battery completely flat.
- If you will not use the device for more than a month, leave the battery about half charged and top it up every 3 months.
- Do not charge below 0 °C or above 45 °C, and keep the device out of direct sun and away from heaters.
- When the battery wears out, replace the battery, not the device.
What the symbols mean
Required on this pageBasis: Art. 74(1)(e). Source: symbols on the approved pack artwork (A16, part B). Owner: PM. List only the symbols that are actually on this battery, plus the bin on the device.
- Crossed-out wheeled bin. Collect separately. Do not put the battery, or the device that contains it, in household waste. The same symbol on the device marks it as electronic waste.
- CE marking. The battery meets EU requirements. See the declaration of conformity.
- Li-ion
- Chemistry. Lithium-ion battery.
- 4000 mAh
- Capacity. The amount of charge the battery holds when new. The energy in watt-hours is shown next to it.
- QR code. Opens this page.
- Cd Pb
- Cd or Pb under the bin. The battery contains more than 0.002 % cadmium or more than 0.004 % lead. Not present on this battery.
Effects on health and the environment
Required on this pageBasis: Art. 74(1)(f). Source: standard text plus this battery's substances (A10, A11). Owner: PM.
This battery contains a flammable liquid electrolyte with a lithium salt and a cathode made of lithium cobalt oxide.⚑
- A damaged battery, or one thrown into household waste, can short-circuit and catch fire. Burning lithium batteries release toxic and corrosive gases.
- Batteries that are littered or end up in landfill can release metals and electrolyte into soil and water, harming people, animals and plants.
- Separate collection and recycling avoid these risks and return valuable materials to production.
